Residential Code and Compliance Testing
The 2012 IRC codes are in effect and required by most counties in MD as of July 1st. We perform Building Envelope Tightness (Blower Door Test) and Duct Leakage Testing (only required for ducts located outside conditioned space). We provide completed documentation on site to file with the county and can provide best practices for you to achieve a successful test the first time out. Contact us for pricing.
Counties using the 2009 IECC code must complete, for Occupancy, the Maryland Residential Compliance Checklist or the more detailed Energy STAR V3 checklist. Please note that this certification is conducted by a certified HERS rater, in which we are qualified, at several points in the build (one, most importantly, is pre-drywall). Please contact us for more information.
Home Energy HERO offers Energy Star Home Certification throughout our service area in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Having a new home certified under the Energy Star New Home program is a powerful way to set it apart from standard, code-built homes. Energy Star homes are more energy efficient, more comfortable, safer, healthier, and retain greater value over the long-term, and as such can be a significant asset for builders, contractors, real estate professionals and homeowners alike.
HERS Ratings (Home Energy Rating System), administered by the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), and offered by Home Energy HERO, are similar to miles-per-gallon ratings for automobiles, but apply to homes and commercial buildings. A HERS Rating is a powerful tool for builders, homeowners, real estate professionals, and more.
